Diane joined forces with Sat Hon, Taoist master and choreographer, to tell and interpret the story of
Journey to the West.

In the first half, Diane presented new stories from Journey to the West: Red Boy, Lusty Women, and Two Monkey Kings.

In the second half, Sat revealed the epic's hidden meaning of alchemical inner transformation on the path to enlightenment and immortality. He also taught Taoist exercises based on Journey to the West and Kwan Yin qi gong.

Gwan Yin, Chinese Goddess of Compassion
A Mythology Café Discussion

Gwan Yin, Great Buddhist Bodhisattva and Goddess of Compassion,  has played an important part in the lives of Asians for centuries and continues to be a living presence.

Diane’s presentation included 60 gorgeous images from Mainland China, Taiwan and Gwan Yin's own island, Putoshan. Diane also spoke about the goddess’ transformation over the centuries (from the male God of Compassion (Avaloketeshvara in India, to the female Gwan Yin) as well as Gwan Yin’s role as the moving force and deus ex machina in the 2,000 page Chinese epic Journey to the West. The presentation also included Gwan Yin's songs and a tai ji dance honoring Gwan Yin.
